Qigong (pronounced
"Chee-Gong") is the ancient Chinese art of cultivating Qi (or "Chi"). Similar
to Tai Chi, in its slow and graceful movements, it is easier to learn and
practice, and is more directly focused on feeling and directing the
Qi.
So what is Qi ?
Some 2200 - 4000 years ago, the Chinese developed a theory
that all matter - both animate and inanimate, including the air - was alive with
a life-force or energy that they called "Qi". Curiously enough, modern science
has proven this ancient, intuitive observation to be true. When we break down
all matter to the sub-atomic level, we find energy.
Furthermore, the
Chinese, over the millennia, developed methods for the cultivation of internal
and external Qi, through deep abdominal breathing techniques, specific
movements, and mental focus. While skeptics might scoff at this idea, I would
suggest that the proof is in the pudding. All you have to do is feel the Qi
between your hands, and feel yourself moving the Qi to know that there is
something to this art form. Also there have been many recent scientific studies
on the amazing benefits of Qigong, and many medical professionals throughout the
world practice and teach Qigong to their patients, including Oprah's Dr. Oz, who
called Qigong "The most powerful longevity exercise".
This form of "moving
meditation" succeeds in quieting the mind, while energizing the body, and
helping you feel more connected to the universe.

Level-1 Qigong Classes
This Powerhouse Qigong Form gives the practitioner a strong "Qi feeling" and creates a huge increase in Metabolic Energy. This energy dramatically improves blood circulation, digestion, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing. People's Hands frequently become so full of Qi Energy that their rings cannot be taken off because of all the blood in their hands. Qi leads the blood. For the cardiovascular system there is nothing better than the slow gentle movements that gracefully dialate blood vessels of all the organs and glands.
Consists of 5 gentle exercises: Empty Force, Cloud Hands, Earth Hands, Around the World, and Push Hands. Each exercise has an emphasis on subtle movements such as Spiraling, Pulsing, and Pressing on Qi.
This will be an on-going, twice-weekly class suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Each class will run through the full form in 1 hour.
